1. Programme Information

1.1. Aim and Overview

The workshop provides an overview of the CDIO Teaching and Learning Framework from the perspective of world-wide changes in engineering education and the importance of meeting industry needs. Two key CDIO documents will be discussed: the CDIO syllabus and the CDIO standards. The Singapore Polytechnic CDIO experience and the critical factors for its successful CDIO implementation will also be shared.

1.2. Programme Objectives (Deliverables)

At the end of the workshop series, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the CDIO teaching and learning framework

  • Adapt the curriculum development and teaching and learning practices for their programs

  • Analyse the benefits and barriers to implementing CDIO in their programs

  • Identify the key activities for implementing the CDIO teaching and learning framework in their programs

1.3. Course Participants and Requirements

  • The workshops are targeted at the following groups of participants:

  • Leaders and senior staff of the State Universities.

  • Faculty Programme Developers

  • Teaching Faculty;

  • Participants should have a basic foundation in English to facilitate understanding of the workshop presentations and learning activities.

  • Some of the participants will be trained to be Specialist Master Trainers, who shall then train the next tier of programme participants.
